6th Sept 2016 Daily Sense with Dr. Kinyanjui Nganga – Do you have Leadership Character?

✨Character is the ability to carry out a life-long resolution long after the emotion of the moment in which the resolution was made.

✨Character is what we do when we think no one is watching. No man can climb out beyond the limitations of his own character. While motivation gets us going; discipline keeps us going.

✨A life of character is a life that is not compacterized – different faces for different audiences. What you see is what you get – a life of integrity. Integrity comes from ‘integer’ – wholeness.

✨Just like constructing a building, it takes several years to build a reputation and a couple of minutes to utterly ruin it. While reputation is what others think you are, character is who you truly are.

✨Guard your character with your life. It is your greatest asset in this life.

✨The force of character is cumulative. Our character is a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character.

✨Men of genius are admired, men of wealth are envied, men of power are feared; but only men of character are trusted. While beauty catches attention, character catches the heart.

✨Has your gift taken you where your character cannot keep you?
While gifts keep you in the light, character anchors your foundation. Attention without preparation leads to self destruction.

✨Talents are gifts. By contrast, character is not given to us. We have to determine to build it piece by piece. Else, we risk being killed by our gifts like Samson of old. Failure in character aborts destiny.

✨Don’t tie your leadership style to styles – styles keep changing. Tie your leadership style to timeless values which mount to character.

✨It is President Thomas Jefferson who prayed, “God grant that men of principle shall be our principal men.”

Let’s Engage: Kindly and honestly, have you lost an opportunity or suffered an embarrassing situation because of your character?
