Are you afraid of yourself?
Has a boss made you fear trying out your dream? Did a parent cast aspersions on you? Did a school teacher make you doubt your capabilities? Has an abusive partner made you distrust your self-worth? Are you silently tormented by your past? Have you perpetually followed the opinions of others about you? Do
you easily give in to the tastes of others? …menu in a restaurant…dress code…hair style…choice of residence…when/where to club…career path.
Do you end up collecting and obeying unquestionably other peoples’ opinions for you….so as to feel good about yourself? – Then, you are living out someone else’s life and desires…and, you are afraid of yourself. Afraid of what you are capable of becoming. Afraid of your original you. Afraid of who you really are. Afraid of your potentials. Afraid of your own destiny. Afraid of yourself.
The odds that you were born, at the moment you were born, to the parents you were born to, with your DNA structure; factoring in infant mortality, wars, natural disasters, diseases, accidents etc has been estimated by some actuaries to be 1 in 400 trillion. Your very being is a miracle on its own.
Greatness is not a preserve of the favourite few. It’s in all of us. Whether you reach there or not is up to you. The universe will always give way to sustained effort – ultimate fulfilment will only come when you do what you must. Not what you need. Few people do what they must because they fear themselves – what they are capable of unleashing.
Latent potential lie inside of you – Free that man! Loose that girl! Stop being afraid of yourself – Release Your-Self. Greatness resides inside of you. While greatness is not a walk in the park, it’s achieved by people who have no more opportunities than you – keep going! God’s delays are not God’s denials. Stay the course. You build by laying one brick at a time. You can create whatever you want to create.
Do not allow situations to toss you to and forth. Life situations happen to all of us but they do not define winners. Firmly root your feet. Be steady on your course. Remember those famous words of Confucius: He who says he can; and he who says he can’t…are both right.
Focus on what you must. Revive the panoramic vision you had as a child. Too many details blur vision. Move with the info that you have towards your dream. Do not wait until you are in control of all the variables. Vision gets clearers when we are on the move. Momentarily detach yourself from your surroundings. Take some quiet time alone this X-mas and reflect on who you are. Release the legend that resides inside of you!
As President FDR said during WW2, the only thing to fear is fear itself. (I add) NOT YOURSELF. Attack what you are afraid of. That is, yourself. YOUR-REAL-SELF. Release yourself to your divine destiny in 2015 and never again allow people, your past, circumstances and/or feelings steal you. You are a legend.
